Dance Mom! I'm a Dance Mom?

Going to be very straight forward here...

Those Dance Mom shows are NUTS! I would NEVER want my daughter to talk to me like that. Nor do I want to be the crazy Mom being sworn at by their son or daughter. RIDICULOUS!

When my daughter's teacher approached me last year about Amber joining "company" I was a little nervous. I didn't want her to turn into "those girls," Not only that, but the typical parental thoughts come into my mind. What if she doesn't win? What if she doesn't get picked? How would this make her feel?

When she joined last year, her dances won numerous awards from high gold, platinum and even first place. I was happy to see her succeed. She participated in the Hollywood Vibe Regional, Legacy, Summer Danse, and even had the opportunity to dance at Darien Lake and The Erie County Fair. She LOVES to dance and entertain on stage and as long as she was having a good time, I will always support her.

My daughter returned to dance this year and has also received numerous awards and this year she is dancing in Vegas! I am 36 years old and have NEVER been to Vegas. I am happy she has this opportunity and I am blessed to be able to do this for her. My daughter has thanked me numerous times for putting her in competition dance and even at 8 years old, she is grateful for the opportunity. What I love about her dance studio though, is Miss Holly teaches the girls about respect. She teaches them how to handle rejection and to work harder and return the next year smarter and stronger. Miss Holly and other teachers that Amber has teaches them that it is o.k. to "not be picked" as long as you are giving it your all.

This simple lesson can be applied to life. Sometimes we don't get picked. Yes, it hurts. Yes, we want to cry but it doesn't mean we won't get picked for the next opportunity.
